Code of Conduct

Libraries have always been a place of peace and quiet. With your cooperation, we can continue that tradition at the Washington County Public Library.

  • Though you do not need to whisper, please keep your voice low.

  • There is no smoking allowed inside the libraries or near their entrances.

  • There are no weapons allowed inside library buildings except where allowed by law.

  • Please turn cellphones off or put them on vibrate.

  • Please do not make or receive cellphone calls inside the main areas of the libraries.

  • There is no eating allowed in the libraries unless the food is part of a library-approved program.

  • Drinks are allowed in covered containers except near any library computer.

  • All children under 8 years old must be supervised.

  • No running or roughhousing allowed within library buildings.

  • All electronic devices, such as MP3 players, digital tablets, and personal computers must be muted or used with earphones.
