    ILLtop Interlibrary Loan Interlibrary Loan is a materials borrowing service of the Library that provides patrons wider access to information and materials than what can be found in the library's catalog. By sharing resources with other public libraries, the patrons of the Washington County Public Library have access to hundreds of thousands of items that can usually be obtained in two to four weeks. If you would like for the library to locate and obtain materials that are not in our system, please fill out the appropriate form by clicking on a link below, call the library where you want to pickup up the item when it is available or come to any service desk. The cost of an Interlibrary Loan is $2.00 per item, starting February 1, 2009, and must be paid when the item is picked up. This includes all Interlibrary Loan Items except periodical articles. Box 728 Beverly, OH 45715 Manager: Susan Chipps Hours Sunday: Closed Monday - Friday: 10:00 am-6:00 pm Saturday: 10:00 am-2:00 pm Built in 1967, the Lyman-Pomeroy Beverly Public Library serves the northwestern corner of Washington County. The Beverly Library grew out of a small library established by the WPA in 1936 and was originally housed in a local school. The current building was built with funds from the Lyman Pomeroy estate and Appalachia grants. The library has convenient parking at the front and side doors and is fully handicapped accessible. The Beverly Public Library has over 38,000 items in its collection of books, audiobooks, movies, music CDs, and magazines. As with all Washington County Public Libraries, the Beverly Library has public access computers with printing capabilities, free wi-fi, a photocopy machine, and fax service. In addition, the library has a book magnifier for use by the visually impaired and an Ellison die-cut machine. The library also has a large meeting room available for public use. Programs The Beverly Library offers a variety of programs for both children and adults. In addition to regularly scheduled programs, the library also offers special programs throughout the year highlighted by the Summer Reading Program.     FAXStop Fax Service Faxing service is available at all of the libraries. Faxes are $1.00 a page for fax numbers within the United States. International faxes are $2.00 a page for the first five pages and $1.00 a page thereafter. The faxing fees apply to all numbers, including toll-free. Receiving a fax costs $1.00 a page regardless of the fax's origin.     Donations Material Donations The library accepts gifts of books and other materials with the understanding that they will be added to the collection only if appropriate and needed. If they are not needed because of duplication, condition, or dated information, the material will be given to the Friends of the Library . The same criteria of selection which are applied to purchased materials are applied to gifts. Memorial gifts of books or money are also accepted with suitable bookplates placed in the book. Specific memorial books can be ordered for the library on request of a patron. By law, the library is not allowed to appraise the value of donated materials, though it can provide an acknowledgment of receipt of the items if requested by the donor. Monetary Donations Financial donations can be made to the Washington County Public Library Foundation at any service desk at all library locations. DONtop

    Wax Paper Lantern - Marietta On Tuesday, December 17th from 3 to 5 pm stop by and make a Wax Paper Lantern as a beautiful decoration for the holidays. All ages will enjoy this program; however an iron will be in use, so young children will need supervision. Using wax paper, crayons, and popsicle sticks, you can add some colorful light to any room. Join the team to help us design an RBG machine to "feed a pet". Our 1st meeting will be on Friday, Dec. 20, 3-4 pm for discussion and brainstorming. We will meet again on Friday, Dec. 27th to construct our machine. Our final meeting will be Friday, Jan. 3rd to film the machine in operation to submit to the online contest.     Friends of the Library Who Are the Friends? The Friends of the Library (FOL) is a public non-profit organization that welcomes everyone who is interested in supporting their local library. What Is the Mission? Each group's mission is, "to focus public attention on library services, facilities, and needs; to assist the library Board and staff in developing and sponsoring programs of educational, cultural, or recreational value for Friends and the community at large; and to develop fund-raising projects for the library..." How Do the Friends Help? By conducting fundraising activities to support the local library and its activities. How Is the Money Used? Although independent of the library system, the Friends communicate with library staff to pinpoint needs - needs that are expected to grow as library funding continues to be pinched.
